Current Openings

We are looking for community members to join our Board of Directors (Secretary, Treasurer, or Member At Large) and Committees (Building Maintenance Committee, Outreach Committee and Fundraising Committee).

Building Maintenance Committee

The Building Maintenance Committee is responsible for helping ensure that Constellation Cat Cafe’s facility is safe, functional, well-maintained and prepared for future needs. This committee provides both strategic support and hands-on assistance with building upkeep, maintenance planning and facility improvement projects. The Building Maintenance Committee reports to the Board of Directors.

Key Objectives

  • Support the ongoing maintenance and preservation of the organization’s aging building.

  • Help identify, plan and prioritize short- and long-term maintenance and capital improvement needs.

  • Reduce maintenance costs through proactive planning, volunteer labor and competitive bidding.

  • Ensure the building remains a safe and welcoming space for staff, volunteers, visitors and cats.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Maintenance Planning & Oversight

    • Identify routine maintenance needs and recommend preventive maintenance schedules.

    • Assist in planning for future repairs, upgrades and capital projects.

    • Help develop maintenance priorities in collaboration with staff and the Board.

  • Vendor & Contractor Support

    • Solicit and review bids or estimates for maintenance, repair and improvement work.

    • Provide recommendations to staff and the Board regarding vendors and project scope.

    • Assist with coordination or oversight of approved maintenance projects as needed.

  • Hands-On Building Support

    • Participate in routine upkeep and light maintenance tasks such as changing HVAC filters, replacing light bulbs, painting, minor repairs and general handyman work.

    • Support periodic work days or maintenance projects requiring volunteer labor.

    • Flag safety issues or urgent repair needs promptly.

  • Facilities Monitoring & Reporting

    • Conduct occasional walk-through of the building to identify maintenance concerns.

    • Document issues, completed work and recommendations for future action.

    • Provide regular updates and recommendations to the Executive Director..

Qualifications

  • Interest in and commitment to the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

  • Comfort with hands-on maintenance and repairs.

  • Experience in facilities management, construction, trades, engineering or property maintenance (helpful but not required).

  • Ability to assess priorities, problem-solve and work collaboratively.

  • Reliable, safety-conscious and willing to roll up sleeves when needed.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 4–8 hours per month, including meetings and hands-on work.

  • Attendance at 75% of committee meetings (virtual).

  • Occasional participation in scheduled work days or maintenance projects, including some evenings or weekends.

Fundraising Committee

The Fundraising Committee is dedicated to generating financial resources to sustain and grow Constellation Cat Cafe’s mission, programs and operations. This committee supports the development and execution of fundraising strategies that engage donors, sponsors and the broader community.

Key Objectives

  • Support and expand diverse fundraising efforts to ensure financial sustainability.

  • Cultivate and strengthen relationships with individual donors, sponsors, and supporters.

  • Increase donor engagement, retention and giving.

  • Collaborate with staff and Board members to advance fundraising goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy & Planning: 

    • Assist in developing and implementing an annual fundraising plan aligned with organizational goals.

    • Identify and recommend new fundraising opportunities, campaigns and revenue streams.

  • Donor Engagement & Cultivation

    • Support outreach to current and prospective donors through events, campaigns and personal connections.

    • Participate in donor stewardship efforts, including thank-you communications and recognition activities.

  • Events & Campaign Support

    • Help plan, promote and participate in fundraising events, online campaigns and special appeals.

    • Assist with sponsorship outreach and in-kind donation requests.

  • Advocacy & Ambassadorship

    • Serve as a positive ambassador for Constellation Cat Cafe, sharing the mission and impact with personal and professional networks.

    • Encourage community members to support the organization through donations, memberships or sponsorships.

  • Collaboration & Reporting

    • Work closely with staff, the Outreach Committee and the Board to align fundraising and engagement efforts.

    • Track activities, share feedback and provide regular updates to the Board of Directors.

Qualifications

  • Passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to its long-term success.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Comfort discussing the organization’s work and asking others to support it financially.

  • Willingness to leverage personal and professional networks in support of fundraising efforts.

  • Experience in fundraising, sales, development or nonprofit work (preferred but not required).

  • Reliable, collaborative, and proactive team member.

Outreach Committee

The Outreach Committee is dedicated to expanding the Constellation Cat Cafe’s visibility, engagement and impact within the community. This committee helps build meaningful relationships with individuals, partner organizations and community groups to advance our mission and programs. The Outreach Committee reports to the Board of Directors.

Key Objectives

  • Increase public awareness of the organization’s mission, programs and events.

  • Strengthen community partnerships and collaborations.

  • Support volunteer recruitment, donor engagement and adoption rates.

  • Represent the organization at community and public events.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Identify and pursue opportunities to connect with local organizations, schools, businesses and civic groups.

  • Event Participation: Plan, promote and participate in community events, fairs and speaking engagements to raise visibility.

  • Outreach Materials: Develop and distribute outreach materials (brochures, flyers, presentations, digital content, etc) in collaboration with the communications or marketing team.

  • Social Media Engagement: Regularly share Constellation Cat Cafe social posts (Facebook & Instagram) with personal social networks and followers.

  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and maintain relationships with community leaders and partner organizations aligned with the nonprofit’s mission.

  • Volunteer Recruitment: Assist in recruiting and orienting volunteers for outreach and event activities.

  • Reporting & Evaluation: Track outreach activities, collect feedback and provide regular updates to the Board.
